

And the third and final copy is kept by the translator. A copy is given to the sworn translation agency where the sworn translator works. A copy of the signed protocol is kept the notary’s office. Following the oath procedure, the oath protocol is signed, both by the sworn translator and the public notary. All successful applicants are then required to stand up before the notary and read out the oath. Following the notary’s positive decision, a certificate of oath or in other words an oath protocol is issued for you by the notary. If you wish to work as a sworn translator, apply to a public notary with documents showing your eligibility once the notary reviews the files and sees you fulfill all the requirements, you may start working officially as a sworn translator. A public notary only authenticates the signatures of translators working for him that swore an oath in his presence. Anyone with a graduate diploma in the respective foreign language swears an oath before a notary and receives the title of a sworn translator. Sworn translators must keep their registration in the register of the BTV office by means of Permanent Education (PE).Īpostille stamp, proof of authenticity of source documents and sworn translations. Subsequently, the full sworn translation is returned to the client by post or by courier. All pieces (including the bonding ring) are then provided with a personal stamp and declaration from the sworn translator. The translation is then attached to the copy of the original by means of an adhesive ring. This can then be delivered digitally (e-mail attachment) or by post. For Russian and English documents, a legible copy is usually acceptable. Self-delivery or pick-up and return by us is also possible. This can be sent to us by registered mail. A sworn translation of a Dutch source document should preferably be done from the original.
